Instagram Account Threatens San Dimas Student: 'We Plan To Kill Her'

SAN DIMAS (CBSLA.com) — Parents of students at Lone Hill Middle School in San Dimas are concerned after an Instagram account surfaced, made by someone threatening to kill a student.

The Instagram account read "we plan to kill her", and highlighted the student's name, claiming that seven people wanted to kill that student. Other claims went on to say "This week we plan on fighting" and "This week we will kill".

Several photos of the intended victim were included along with the threats.

"It just makes me angry to think there's girls out there, or even boys, that would be targeting any student that way," parent Sandy Dimas said.

The school's principal, Sean Grycel, says the police are aware of the threats, and are looking into it.

"The parent and student met with school personnel Monday, and a report was filed with the San Dimas Sheriff's Department," Grycel said. "The school resource officer and school personnel met with the student and parent again today. The student is safe and with her parent."

Still, parents have stated their concern over their children's online activity.

"Getting a smart phone or tablet is a privilege, not a right," parent Scott Reed said.

"My daughter attends this school," another parent noted online. "I don't let her have social media account access, (she's) way too young still."

Officials from the school are working with local law enforcement to discover the identity of whoever created that Instagram account, and Sheriff's deputies are expected to be at the school on Wednesday to look into the matter.

The account has since been removed from Instagram.
