LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Metro Gold Line train struck and killed a pedestrian in the Highland Park area, officials said Monday.

Fire crews were called to the 100 block of North Avenue 61 about 11:15 a.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One pedestrian was found dead at the scene, Humphrey said. No other injuries were reported.

The fatally injured man was in his 30s, said coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey. His name was not immediately released.

The death was being investigated as a possible suicide, police said.

Bus shuttles were taking passengers between the South Pasadena and Southwest Museum stations following the incident, officials said.

The circumstances of the death were under investigation.
