Police: DNA Links Texas Man To 2008 Sexual Assault Of Sleeping 10-Year-Old Santa Ana Girl

SANTA ANA (CBLA.com) — A Texas man is expected in court Monday to face charges in the molestation of a 10-year-old Santa Ana girl in her home in 2008.

Dustin Lee Morgan, 36, Texarkana is charged with one felony count of performing lewd acts upon a child under 14 years old, one felony count of sexual penetration of a child under 10 years old and a sentencing enhancement allegation for performing lewd acts on a child under 14 during the commission of a burglary. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison.

Morgan is scheduled to be arraigned at 10 a.m. Monday in Santa Ana.

Authorities said Morgan broke into the girl's home around 5 a.m. Feb. 8, 2008.

Morgan is accused of entering the unidentified girl's bedroom while she was sleeping and molesting her.

Morgan fled through a sliding glass door after the victim screamed. The girl's family members contacted the Santa Ana Police Department that morning.

In February 2015, the Police Department conducted a further DNA analysis of evidence recovered from the crime scene and linked Morgan to the case. On March 26, Morgan was arrested in Texarkana by the U.S. Marshal's Service.

Five days later, Morgan was extradited to Orange County.
