Students Say Local Senior Prom Sold Out Due To Booking Of Small Venue

EASTVALE (CBSLA.com) — Students and parents are upset that not everyone will be able to attend a high school's prom under the belief that the venue is too small to fit everyone.

The website of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale says that prom is sold out, and there are still plenty of seniors and juniors who had hoped to attend.

Parents and students say they believe the prom sold out because the venue booked for the event is not large enough.

"I don't know what I'll be doing," senior student Bri Sklar said. "I'll probably stay home and do nothing because all my friends will be at prom."

"It should never be (that) you can't go to your senior prob because we don't have enough space," Bri's mother Keri said.

"For my dream to be diminished or broken, it left me in pieces because I've been looking forward to this," Sklar said. "Senior year. It's your last year. It's the year you've always been looking forward to."

Other students voiced similar opinion, pointing to the size of the venue as the cause of the prom selling out.

"I think the venue should've been big enough for all juniors and seniors to be together and have a good time," another student said.

Administrators were pressed for comment on the matter Tuesday, and a series of emails, which may not have meant to have been seen, suggested no answer would be delivered. One email remarked, "Who's gonna answer this lady", with another email minutes later, responding, "probably nobody."

Sklar reports that officials put her on a waiting list in case other students return their tickets.

School officials have not responded to requests for comment.
