Fire Causes $120K In Damage To Dockside Restaurant In Dana Point Harbor

DANA POINT (CBSLA.com) — A popular dockside restaurant in Dana Point Harbor suffered about $120,000 in damage from a fire in the kitchen, fire officials said Monday.

Firefighters sent to the Wind & Sea Restaurant at 34699 Golden Lantern St. at 1:50 a.m. extinguished the flames in 45 minutes, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

"OCFA firefighters responded and made an aggressive attack and saved most of the restaurant," Concialdi said. There were no injuries.

Damage was estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $20,000 to the contents, Concialdi said.

The cause of the fire was determined to be from a build-up of grease in the kitchen's ducts.

Wind & Sea officials posted on their Facebook page that the fire damaged parts of the restaurant's bar, patio and banquet room, and as a result is closed until further notice.
