Public's Help Sought In Search For Suspect In Studio City Garage Break-Ins

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — The manager of a Studio City apartment building is asking for the public's help in the search for a man suspected of stealing from residents' vehicles.

Debbi Saure, manager of Tunja Towers West, located in the 4100 block of Tujunga Avenue, says early Saturday morning a man captured on security video waited until a tenant left the building, then came into the garage and broke into cars.

She believes the same suspect is responsible for a similar break-in that occurred in the building in recent months.

"It's kind of frightening to think that maybe somebody would feel that comfortable with being a thief," Saure said.

Lydia Kapp was a victim of the latest theft.

"My sunglasses were taken, my garage door opener was taken and I thought to check the trunk and realized my that husband's scuba diving equipment, which was in the back, was also taken," Kapp said.

The suspect can be seen on surveillance video driving a car into the garage in the most recent incident.

Saure says the man took garage door openers so he could let himself back into the garage with his car to store the belongings before driving off.

"It hurts me cause I really like all my tenants," Saure said.

Anyone with information regarding the break-ins is asked to contact the North Hollywood Police Department.
