Police Arrest Hit-And-Run Suspect Accused Of Injuring 2 Bicyclists In Venice

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — Police have arrested a man suspected of crashing into three bicyclists in a multiple hit-and-run incident in Venice Saturday.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. to the area of 24th Street and Speedway.

Investigators determined the driver of a red Honda CR-V struck a bicyclist on the corner of Washington Boulevard and Speedway and fled the scene.

Police say the driver continued down Speedway, hitting a second victim at 27th Street and a third at 25th.

Witnesses said the driver never slowed down and never stopped, even passing through the area a second time.

Paramedics transported two of the bicyclists to a hospital with substantial but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses were able to provide police with the license plate number of the suspect vehicle, which subsequently led to an arrest.

Investigators say the suspect did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was aware he hit people when they knocked on his door.
