LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A mother and her 4-year-old daughter were in critical condition Thursday after getting trapped in an apartment fire in Long Beach.

“As firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, they conducted a primary search and found two patients inside the involved unit,” Jake Heflin from the Long Beach Fire Dept. said.
A 47-year-old woman and her child were found laying unconscious on a bed.

Two dogs were also found deceased inside the apartment.
It took about 50 firefighters just over 10 minutes to put out the flames.

The cause was under investigation.
