
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A mother and her 4-year-old daughter were in critical condition Thursday after getting trapped in an apartment fire in Long Beach.
The fire was reported just after midnight in a third floor unit in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue near E. 10th Street, officials said.
READ MORE: 2 Long Beach Grocery Stores Shutting Down Saturday Over Hero Pay Law“As firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, they conducted a primary search and found two patients inside the involved unit,” Jake Heflin from the Long Beach Fire Dept. said.
A 47-year-old woman and her child were found laying unconscious on a bed.
Firefighters performed life-saving measures and transported them to a local hospital, where the girl was transferred to a child burn unit.

It took about 50 firefighters just over 10 minutes to put out the flames.
Although officials said there was a smoke detector inside the residence, a neighbor claimed the complex did not have working ones.
