Caught On Camera: Search On In Montebello For Suspect In Attempted Sex Assault

MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — Police have released security camera footage that captures a man they believe tried to sexually assault a woman in Montebello last month.

The victim on Feb. 11 was waiting for a bus in front of a Chevron gas station at 1500 Paramount Boulevard when she was approached by the man.

He spoke to the woman and eventually persuaded her to follow him to a bus stop where she could catch the bus sooner.

The suspect led her into a secluded, landscaped area between the 60 Freeway and The Shops at Montebello in the 2100 block of Town Center Drive and tried to attack her.

The woman fought him off and fled, police report.

The man was described as Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old and weighing 130 pounds. He was five feet six inches tall and had black hair and a goatee. He was wearing a hooted sweater with blue writing, black shorts and a backpack.

Anyone with information about the man pictured or about the incident should call Detective Zabala at (323) 887-1200.
