LA Police Union Approves Proposed Contract

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The union representing Los Angeles Police Department officers has approved a proposed labor agreement with the city that would provide cost-of-living salary increases over the next five years.

The LA Police Protective League says the deal OK'd Monday night also includes a 5 percent boost in health-care subsidies, a $500 increase in the annual uniform allowance and an increase in cash overtime.

The contract will run through June 30, 2018. It still requires approval by the City Council.

The union represents some 9,900 officers.
