Long Beach Police Searching For Missing 10-Year-Old Girl

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Long Beach police are searching for a 10-year-old girl who failed to show up for school Tuesday.

Authorities were contacted by the mother of Samantha Lazaro at approximately 10:50 a.m.

A police spokesperson said Samantha left her home, located in the area of Orange Avenue and Anaheim Street, at approximately 7:35 a.m. Tuesday morning.

They say her mother believed she was leaving for school at Whittier Elementary.

Police were notified and immediately began searching for her when her mother confirmed with the school Samantha never arrived.

Police later determined Samantha never had intention of going to school Tuesday through a note she left at home. They have not revealed the contents of the note.

Samantha is described as Hispanic, standing 4 feet 5 inches and weighing 80 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

She could be wearing a baby blue sweater with polka dots, jeans and black sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding Samantha's whereabouts is urged to call 911 if in Long Beach, or (562) 435-6711 if outside the City.
