Help Needed To Identify Suspects In Venice Strong-Arm Robbery

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — The public's help is needed to identify two men suspected in an attempted strong-arm robbery at a Venice gas station.

The attempted robbery happened on Feb. 28 at about 7:55 p.m., when the two men approached the victims, who were standing at an ATM near a Chevron gas station in the 200 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

Police say the suspects demanded the victims' wallets, and when they tried to walk away, the suspect followed and attacked them. Several passers-by noticed the suspects attacking the victims and intervened, so they fled, walking eastbound on Rose Avenue from Lincoln.

The first suspect is described as a 21 to 26-year-old Hispanic man, with black hair and light-colored eyes, about 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds. He wore a gray, hooded Nike jacket, a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The suspect has a distinct tattoo of a bear's head on the right side of his neck, another tattoo on his inner left arm and a small tattoo on his left wrist.

The second suspect is described as a 21 to 30-year-old Hispanic man, with black hair and dark eyes, about 5-foot-10 and about 180 pounds. He wore a red "LA" baseball cap, a black V-neck T-shirt, dark gray cargo shorts and red, black and white Nike tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the attempted robbery can call LAPD Pacific Area Detective Luis Jurado at (310) 482-6373 or Detective Mario Barillas at (310) 482-6372.
