Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries After Small Plane Goes Down In Mentone

MENTONE (CBSLA.com) — A pilot suffered minor injuries Tuesday after his plane went down in San Bernardino County.

The aircraft, described as a small biplane by San Bernardino County Fire officials, went crashed into the Santa Ana River Wash, just west of Florida Street, in the eastern portion of Redlands just before noon, Redlands Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters extricated the pilot, who was conscious and talking, from the plane and he was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

National Transportation Safety Board and FAA officials are investigating.
