Forum At Qualcomm Discusses Future Of Chargers In San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CBSLA.com) — A public forum took place at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley in relation to the future of the San Diego Chargers and their stadium.

Two main questions were the focus of attention at the forum. The first question is whether or not a new stadium should be built in Mission Valley, near the current Qualcomm Stadium. There is also talk of the possibility of a new stadium being built in downtown San Diego, near Petco Park, where the Padres play.

The other question is a matter of how that stadium will be financed.

Dan McClellan, of 'Save the Bolt', says the time has come to put a vote before the public.

"We are on the verge of failing to keep the Chargers in San Diego, because for too long, our leadership has feared failure," McClellan said. "We can't fear failure any more, we've got to try."

A task force, consisting of nine members, will compile every possibility, and will release a recommendation within three months.
