Deputies Seek Help Identifying 2 Witnesses Of Murder In Santa Monica

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives sought the public's help Monday to identify two people that witnessed a murder in Santa Monica.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, around 3:58 p.m. Tuesday, Wesley Morejon, 30, was confronted by David Carrillo, 28, in the 8000 block of Vermont Avenue.

During the confrontation, Carrillo allegedly stabbed Morejon several times, and then fled the scene.

Morejon was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials added.

Authorities were able to identify Carrillo through witness accounts and surveillance video.

The video also shows a woman, wearing a white shirt with red stripes, who appears to be with the victim inside a store. A man, wearing a green shirt and arrived in a Cadillac STS, allegedly videotaped the murder on his cell phone.

On Feb. 23, deputies located Carrillo at a home located in the 800 block of Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica.

He refused to surrender for several hours. Carrillo began to exit after tear gas was deployed into the location; however, a K-9 prevented his attempt to return back inside, and he was subsequently detained.

Carrillo remains in custody, and is being held on $1 million.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at the LASD Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
