Driver Dies After Car Crashes Into Building, Ruptures Gas Line In LA

INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed Sunday after his vehicle crashed into a building.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, crews were sent around 1:45 a.m. for report of a vehicle into a building in the 15400 block of Valley Boulevard.

Deputies from the Industry Sheriff's Station arrived on scene, and located the vehicle that struck a restaurant located in a strip mall.

The restaurant was closed at the time of the crash, but other businesses that were open were evacuated until shortly after 6:00 a.m.

Officials said they believe the driver lost control of his vehicle, and hit a meter outside the building, which ruptured the gas line.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No other injuries were reported.
