Suspects Sought In Double Shooting In Oxnard

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities were dispatched to a shots fired call in Oxnard Saturday morning and located two victims after an investigation.

The call came in just before 11 a.m. Saturday and officers went to the 700 block of Berkshire Place.

Officers said a 23-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were struck by gun fire.

Two suspects, both Latinos in their 20s, were being sought. When last seen, both suspects were in dark clothing.

The male victim was taken to St. John's Hospital by family members. While there, officers learned a second victim, the 39-year-old female, was also being treated.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a confrontation developed between the suspects and the 23-year-old male. The suspects then shot at the male as he fled on foot. While shooting at the male, the female -- who was walking in the vicinity -- was struck by a stray bullet.

Both victims had non-life-threatening injuries and were released from the hospital.

Anyone with any information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Oxnard Police Department at 805-385-7600 or anonymously at Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
