(KNX 1070) — Is this the end of the line for TV news anchor Brian Williams?
KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO’s Charles Feldman and Tom Haule hostED a special program Friday that took a closer look at what might happen to Williams and whether network evening newscasts are still relevant.
“KNX Spotlight: The Brian Williams Scandal” featured a panel of experts taking your questions via phone and Twitter, including network news correspondent Judy Muller; Michael Schneider, executive editor of TV Guide Magazine; and Michael Sitrick, Chairman & CEO of Sitrick And Company, considered by many to be the top crisis communications expert in the country.
Muller talked about the significance of how social media was responsible for the downfall of one of the industry’s most powerful anchormen.
“This is has been death by a thousand tweets,” said Muller. “It’s going on still, all these things trickling out…so that’s why they’ve suspended him because they keep coming.”
Williams – who currently earns $10 million a year – is on unpaid leave for 6 months, but many doubt he’ll return to the NBC News anchor chair.
