2 Arrested In OC Hotel Robberies

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Orange County detectives have arrested two people in connection with two hotel robberies.

An arranged meeting online between a man and one of the suspects, a female, inside a DoubleTree hotel in Santa Ana took a violent turn when police say another man, captured on security tape, took the elevator to the 7th floor, assaulted and tried to rob the victim.

"As he's entering his hotel room with a bottle of liquor. He's confronted by the suspect, who pushed him inside," Santa Ana Police Department Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Police say the suspect sprayed the victim with pepper spray.

When the victim dialed 911, police say the suspect and the two women with him took off.

Minutes later, the three of them walked out of the elevator.

A camera outside the hotel captured them driving away in a sedan with front-end damage.

That was a month ago.

Two days ago, investigators say the three suspects struck again at a Best Western in Dana Point. After one of the female suspects arranged to meet a man online, police say the suspects assaulted the man and robbed him.

Their car and a security tape led detectives to arrest 24-year-old Sandy Cacero and 27-year-old Christopher Herrera.

The two were linked to a similar robbery at U.C. Irvine.

Police believe there are more victims out there.

"We need them to come forward. We're not looking at them for any criminal activity, we're looking at them as victims," Bertagna said.

Police are also looking for the third, female suspect. They ask anyone with information to contact Santa Ana police.
