More Victims Of Craigslist Robber Sought

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — West Covina police asked Wednesday for people who have been robbed by anyone advertising items for sale on Craigslist to contact investigators.

Two recent robberies occurred after the victims went to locations intending to buy computers, West Covina police spokesman Rudy Lopez said.

Investigators believe the same suspect committed both crimes, and may have committed similar robberies, possibly in other police jurisdictions, Lopez said.

The first crime happened on Jan. 28, when a person responded to a posted advertisement by calling a number, and was told to meet the seller in a carport in the 1800 block of East Grovecenter Street, Lopez said. Once there, the suspect robbed the victim of more than $700 after displaying a handgun.

On Feb. 1, a person called a number in an ad and was told to meet the seller in a carport in the 2400 block of South Ridgewood Drive, Lopez said. The suspect reached for his waistband, claiming to have a gun, and the victim was robbed, with the loss again listed as "more than $700," Lopez said.

The man's description was being withheld by investigators, who asked anyone with information on the case to call police at (626) 939-8557.
