Several South Bay Cities See Increase In Daytime Burglaries, Police Say

HERMOSA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say several South Bay cities, including Hermosa Beach, have experienced a large increase in daytime residential burglaries.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department said in a written statement that the suspects have provided the first name of the person they claim they are looking for when residents have answered the door.

Where knocks weren't answered, police said the suspects have entered through unlocked doors or by pushing doors in. In some instances, the suspects gained entry through a dog door.

Police offered suspect descriptions for two possible assailants, both in their mid-20s.

The first was described as a black man with a thin build and tattoos, while the second was a Hispanic man with a thin build.

"The suspects remain in the residence for a short period of time, taking any items they can find of value," the statement said.

Residents were urged to keep doors, including their garages, locked.
