Police Arrest Elderly Woman In Wallet Theft At Redlands Children's Boutique

REDLANDS (CBSLA.com) — Natalie Price has had her hands full since giving birth to her son a few weeks ago.

The young mom sometimes sets her belongings down to feed her son; and that's how trouble found her inside Rubie Tuesday's children's boutique in Redlands on Thursday.

"I was a little confused because I get distracted with my newborn baby and when I came back in I told the owner... 'I can't find my wallet,'" she recalled.

The boutique's owner, Stacie Pitsley, showed CBS2 security video that appeared to show why.

"You see the woman gabbing the wallet. She put it back down, she took the money out of it. Now she picks it back up again," Pitsley pointed out.

The store's owner suspects the woman seen on camera walking out of the store stole Price's wallet.

"I think it's crazy. She's been in here before. I recognize her and now I'm just wondering how many times she has taken stuff while being in here," Pitsley said, noting the suspected thief was with her mother, also seen on camera using a walker.

"It's really sad - especially an older lady," Pitsley said.

The last piece of video, however, is what shocked her most.

The woman is seen walking past Price and patting her baby on the back before leaving the store.

"You'll see she touches the baby of the mother as she leaves..." Pitsley said.

Police say they found the woman seen on camera and she admitted to stealing the wallet.

The woman, whose name was not released, was arrested.

Price says her wallet, however, has not been returned.
