Fishermen Discover Man's Body In LA River

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A man's body was discovered Wednesday afternoon in the Los Angeles River in Long Beach.

Two fishermen made the discovery and contacted authorities shortly after 1 p.m., according to Long Beach police.

The Long Beach Fire Department was called to a small island in a wetlands area south of the Willow Street overpass. It's an area near the intersection West 25th Street and De Forest Avenue.

The L.A. County Coroner's team and Long Beach police were investigating.

It's unclear if officials know the man's identity.
