Coroner Identifies El Segundo Woman Struck, Killed Near LAX
EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — A woman who died after being struck by a vehicle on Sepulveda Boulevard near LAX Wednesday night has been identified as an El Segundo resident.
The Los Angeles County coroner's office said Sharon Cheng, 62, was injured around 9 p.m. Wednesday while crossing at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Mariposa Avenue. She later died at a hospital.
El Segundo police Lt. Dan Kim told City News Service that a preliminary investigation found that Cheng was struck by a vehicle that was turning left from westbound Mariposa onto Sepulveda, which is 10 lanes wide at the intersection. The motorist who struck Cheng, a 53-year-old man also from El Segundo, remained on the scene to be interviewed by police, and no charges have been filed.
