Mother, 3-Year-Old Daughter Killed In Inglewood Condo Fire

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A mother and her young daughter were killed Thursday in n Inglewood condo fire.

The two-alarm fire was reported at 2:30 a.m. at a three-story complex in the 600 block of West Queen Street, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Officials say the fire started in one unit and then spread to three others.

Angel Reed, 22, and her 3-year-old daughter Angelina died in the fire.

"My baby supposed to bury me, okay? Not this, never supposed to happen, never supposed to happen to my child," said Angel's mother, Ruby Bowie.

"I don't understand why they didn't get out," said Lachresha Bowie.

Reed lived in the condo with her boyfriend, the couple's 2-year-old son and an uncle. All three were able to escape the fire.

A firefighter also suffered an injury to his hand, officials said.

The fire was declared a knockdown at 3:21 a.m.

Arson and police investigators were on scene investigating the cause.

"Something ain't right, my daughter wouldn't stay in no fire like that, do whatever she could, something ain't right," said Laurence Bowie.

The fire displaced about 15 residents who were being assisted by the American Red Cross.
