West Covina Police Asking Public's Help To Identify Hit-And-Run Driver

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com)  —  The West Covina Police Department is asking the public to help them nab a hit-and-run driver who struck a pedestrian on Friday evening around 8:10.

The accident occurred on Francisquito Avenue, just west of California Avenue, authorities said.

An adult male in his 50's was pushing a bicycle on Francisquito when he crossed mid-block into traffic.

Walking northbound, the victim was struck by a light colored Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The suspect vehicle fled the area westbound on Francisquito and turned left into the driveway next to "DD's Discounts" located at 1200 West Francisquito Avenue. The Jeep then drove west through the parking lot and turned left onto Sunset and out of sight.

The front end of the suspect vehicle (driver side) appears to have sustained damage in the impact. A photograph of the Jeep was obtained from a nearby security camera.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. His present condition remains unknown.

The West Covina Police Department -- (626) 939-8500 -- is asking the public to locate the suspect vehicle and identify the driver.
