Tattooed Man Wanted For Torrance Street Robbery

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — The public's help was sought Thursday in capturing a distinctively-tattooed man who robbed two teenage boys in Torrance.

According to Torrance police officials, two 15-year-old boys were leaving Fantastic Café, 20305 Western Ave., Wednesday at about 7:15 p.m., when a man at a bus stop near the restaurant began yelling at them, "Hey, where you from?"

The man accused to boys of being taggers and demanded their cell phones to see if they were in fact taggers. He also told the boys he was 38 years old and they could trust them with their phones, at one point removing his baseball cap and saying, "I'm from this hood," police said.

The boys handed over their cell phones to the man, who then grabbed the arm of one of the boys and removed his watch, police said. The suspect was last seen eastbound on 204th Street from Western Avenue on foot.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 39s, about 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall, 200 pounds with a medium or chubby build, a shaved head and wearing a blue baseball cap with L.A. on the front, a light gray hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and white Jordan shoes. He had tattoo on the right back of his head with the block letters "ST," a tattoo of three dots below his right eye.

Anyone with information about the man's identity can call Torrance Police at (310) 328-3456.
