El Monte Private School Volunteer Pleads Guilty To Molesting 6 Students

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A volunteer at a private school in El Monte pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting six children who were students, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.

Johnny Beserra, 20, pleaded guilty to two counts of continuous sexual abuse, a count each of forcible oral copulation when the victim is under 14 years old, lewd act upon a child, child molesting and possession of child pornography.

Under the terms of the negotiated plea deal, Beserra is expected to be sentenced to 30 years to life in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender for life, district attorney's officials said.

Deputy District Attorney Michael Matoba said Beserra was a volunteer at El Monte Christian Academy from August 2010 to May 2014, when the crimes happened. The victims were students at the school, ages 7 to 17.

Some of the crimes transpired at the school, Matoba said.

Beserra is scheduled to be sentenced March 2.
