Search Continues In Palm Desert For Missing L.A. Executive

PALM DESERT (CBSLA.com) — A search continued in Palm Desert for a missing Los Angeles executive last seen nearly a week ago.

Omar Meza, 33, an AIG sales executive, was last seen last Thursday at Desert Springs, a J.W. Marriott Resort & Spa, on Country Club Drive.

On Wednesday, his close friends, coworkers and complete strangers joined the search for Meza.

They gathered at a Palm Desert strip mall and then fanned out while sheriff's dive teams searched the ponds along the golf course.

The ponds were of interest because Meza's wife says his jacket and wallet were discovered on the morning after his disappearance.

"It's such a mystery. This is not something that Omar would do," said Marissa Liu, a former coworker. "He would never just leave so we know that there is something else going on here."

Meanwhile, details are emerging in the case.

CBS2 has learned Meza ate at a high-end Palm Desert steakhouse on the evening he vanished.

Diane Meza, his wife, says he took Uber to the Marriott but it's not known why as he was not staying at the hotel.

She said of camera footage from the hotel: "He spends about an hour inside. There's limited footage inside. There's not a lot of cameras."
