Once Courted By A Prince, Brentwood Woman Maintains Fresh Look On Not-So-Royal Budget

BRENTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — For six years, Alison Read dated one of the world's most eligible bachelors: Prince Albert of Monaco.

And at 50, the Brentwood resident has managed to maintain her fresh look through minimal changes.

"I'm not ashamed to admit that I've had some things some," said Read, who left Monaco and royal life more than 20 years ago. "The secret is moderation."

Read entrusted Cynthia Boxrud, a Santa Monica plastic surgeon, to help her age gracefully with injections at the heart of the technique.

"We don't like commando procedures or things that change what Mother Nature gave you," Boxrud explains.

On Read, the doctor starts by injecting Botox but not where it's normally used, which is in the forehead and crow's feet, but in the lower portion of the face.

"It's the muscles that bring things down, so Botox will relax those muscles and bring things up," Boxrud said.

Next, Boxrud uses fillers to replace some of the volume loss that comes with aging.

In Read, she injects Restylane to build out her jawline, which can tighten the chin, and into her temples to make her look less tired.

The tune-up took about 30 minutes and cost about $1,200.

"If you're 50, you're going to look 50, but you really want to look a fresh 50," Boxrud said.

"I hear a lot of comments like, 'You look like you had a good night's rest,'" Read said.

Most injectible procedures last three to nine months. Risks can include lumpiness, infection and asymmetrical results.

Boxrud's practice is at 2021 Santa Monica Blvd., Suite 700E, Santa Monica. For more information, visit www.drboxrud.com or call (310) 829-9060.
