'Boyhood' Leads Groundbreaking Night At Golden Globes

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A first-of-its-kind film took top honors, and several surprise winners took home trophies as the the Golden Globes were handed out Sunday evening.

KCAL9 entertainment report Suzanne Marques reported on the Red Carpet arrivals as well as the winners from the Beverly Hilton on Sunday night.

Richard Linklater's labor of love "Boyhood' won big, as the movie, filmed over 12 years, was selected as the best drama, for best director, and garnered Patricia Arquette her first Globe.

The Hollywood Foreign Press checked in at "The Grand Budapest Hotel," the movie winning best pictured in the comedy or musical category, while "Birdman" won best screenplay and an acting nod for the film's star Michael Keaton.

Julianne Moore won her second Golden Globe for her performance of a woman suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's in "Still Alice."

Eddie Redmaye won for his role as physicist Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything."

For the third year in a row, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returned as hosts, and used current events to bring in the laughs.

It was a history-making night of first in the television categories. For the first time ever a streaming series took top honors with the Amazon Prime series "Transparent" winning best television comedy or musical, and its star Jeffery Tambor taking best actor.

Breakout "Jane The Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez won her first Golden Globe, expressing the importance of never giving up on your dreams.
