LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — California Highway Patrol have released the number of drivers they arrested who were allegedly under the influence during the holiday weekend.

Between New Year’s Eve and Sunday morning, officer took 219 motorists into custody in Los Angeles County.

That number is up from 104 arrests made last year, although last year’s holiday period included two fewer days.

Across the state, CHP arrested 1,072 impaired drivers on freeways and in unincorporated areas, compared to the 457 arrests last year, which was also a shorter holiday period.

These numbers only reflect arrests
