LA HABRA (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said a domestic violence suspect was found hanging in a La Habra Police Department jail.

Police were called about 9:45 a.m. Friday by a female reporting a domestic incident, according to La Habra police.

Officers arrived at the location and arrested the suspect.

“While alone in a jail cell, the male was found hanging and unconscious. Officers began life saving measures before paramedics arrived.

“The male was then transported to St. Jude Hospital (in Fullerton) where he was pronounced dead,” according to a police statement.

The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office in investigating, standard procedure following all in-custody deaths.
