Shooting Death Investigation Underway In Torrance

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Detectives investigated the circumstances Sunday surrounding the shooting death of a 27-year-old man in Torrance.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were around 1:10 a.m. sent to the 22800 block of Berendo Avenue, near West 229th Street, for report of a man lying in the street and bleeding.

Once on scene, they located the victim, described as an Asian man, suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies explained they attempted to render aid to the victim until paramedics arrived, however, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim may have been riding his bicycle in the street when he was shot.

Witnesses in the area explained to deputies they heard several gunshots, but did not see a suspect or vehicle in the area.
