Leisure World Resident Struck By Car On Sunday Has Died

SEAL BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A Leisure World resident who was struck by a car near Pelham Road and St. Andrew Drive in Seal Beach on Sunday died two days later, authorities said Friday.

Seal Beach police announced that the 61-year-old woman, whose identity has not be released, died Tuesday afternoon, nearly 48 hours after she was hit by another Leisure World resident while she was walking through a carport. Seal Beach police Sgt. Phil Gonshak said the driver, a 68-year-old man, was attempting to park when the woman was struck about 6 p.m. Sunday.

The woman was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital suffering from serious head and neck injuries, Gonshak said.

Police questioned the driver, and there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, Gonshak said. He added that a death investigation would be conducted by the Orange County coroner, but as of this time no charges have been placed against the driver.

Seal Beach police ask that anyone with information on the incident contact investigator Brad Davis at 562-799-4100, ext. 1612.
