Stores Stay Open All Night For Last-Minute Shoppers

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — There are just a few shopping hours left in the day, and procrastinators are out in force at Southern California's retail centers.

Several stores, like Toys R Us, stayed open all night to accommodate shoppers like Latasha and her husband, who emerged from the retailer with a full shopping cart.

"We have four boys and we waited till the last minute," she said. "They got bikes, skates, everything else."

Even though it was Christmas Eve, store shelves were not bare and shoppers were not in panic mode – yet, KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports.

"For those who knew what they were going for, they were fairly calm," said one Toys R Us employee who was coming off an all-night shift. "There were some big-ticket items that were definitely selling out and the guests were kind of getting a little bit nervous for that."

But the bounty may not last much longer – higher-end electronic items like the PlayStation or Xbox aren't likely to be on shelves by the end of the night.
