Astronomical Tides Possible Tuesday Along Local Coast

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The winter weather is bringing the strongest tides of the year to the Southern California coastline.

KNX 1070's Tom Reopelle reports that astronomical tides of more than 7 feet are expected from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Strong rip currents are also anticipated as waves pound the coast in Orange and San Diego counties.

"We could see minor coastal overflow of low-lying areas along the beach, including beach parking lots, as well," James Thomas of the National Weather Service said of Tuesday.

Minor flooding is possible from Seal Beach to Imperial Beach, Reopelle reported.
