Man Dead, 2 Injured In West L.A. Triple-Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a man has died following a triple-shooting in West Los Angeles that left two others injured.

The incident on Robertson Boulevard and Helms Place was reported about 9 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they located the victims. One man was suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach while a second was shot in the neck and face.

All three were transported to the hospital where one died. Another remains critical and the third is stable.

"The victims are currently not cooperating with police. We have not received any information from them as to suspect description, how many suspects, or what occurred," said Lt. Randy Garner of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident also prompted police to converge on a home down the street from Hamilton High School and arrest a man and two women after a brief standoff.

"We have a blood trail that either led to or came from that residence so we do believe that the shooting occurred inside that house," said Lt. John Radtke of the LAPD.

Police have not said if any of the arrestees were suspected in the triple-shooting but took them into custody to determine what role, if any, they played.

The shooting also prompted Hamilton High School to be placed on lockdown while authorities investigated. The lockdown was lifted once authorities determined that the shooting was not random in nature.

"It appears that this is maybe something more personal that went on inside of a residence," LAPD Lt. Radtke said. "This could be gang-related. We just don't know yet … and yes, narcotics could also be a factor here."
