3-Month-Old Boy Hears Mother's Voice For The First Time With Help Of Hearing Aids

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Southland family has received the best gift of all this holiday season as their 3-month-old son heard his mother's voice for the first time.

It has been an emotional roller coaster for Stephanie and Daniel Whitehead, who found out their son, Colin, was born with Stickler syndrome, a genetic condition which causes impaired hearing.

"You want your kid to be perfect, you don't want your kids to have any issues. And so it was hard," Stephanie said.

CBS2/KCAL9 was there as baby Colin heard his mother trying to quiet his cries for the very first time. It was an emotional moment for the Southland mother.

"When he listened to my voice it was the best thing ever. I can't even explain or put it into words. It was a wonderful feeling," she said.

Colin is now able to hear with the help of advanced technology allowing him to get small hearing aids.
