LAFD Saves Man And Woman From LA River

ATWATER VILLAGE (CBSLA.com) —  Los Angeles Fire Department officials Friday rescued two people Friday from in the Los Angeles River.

A man and woman were reported stranded in the river around 9:45 a.m. near the 2800 block of N. Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village, officials said.

Firefighters used swift water rescue technique to pluck the man from the water around 10:25 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital in fair condition.

Firefighters continued to search for the woman until they located and rescued her just before noon. She suffered from hypothermia and scratches to her face.

It was unclear why the pair was in the river bed.
