Driver Sentenced To Prison In Hit-And-Run Death Of Man In Wheelchair

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Pacoima woman was sentenced to prison Friday for fatally running over a wheelchair-bound man with her vehicle.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Tatiana Cacho, 25, was ordered to spend two years in state prison for killing 40-year-old Manuel De Jesús González.

Christian Salvador Olvera, 23, of North Hollywood was sentenced to 16 months in county jail.

Cacho pleaded no contest on Nov. 19 to one count of hit-and-run driving, which resulted in death. Olvera entered a no contest plea that same day, to one count of accessory after the fact.

According to police, González was crossing the street during the evening hours on Sept. 26, near Terra Bella Street and Cayuga Avenue in Pacoima, when the crash occurred.

Prosecutors said Olvera was not in the car at the time of the collision; however, he later helped Cacho bring the vehicle to a body shop in an attempt to hide the damage.
