LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Silver Lake residents say their neighborhood has been plagued by an epidemic of tire slashings.

A public safety committee of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council was told Thursday night that the tires of more than 40 vehicles were slashed in the past two months, according to the Eastsider LA website.

The vandalism happened in the area of Crestmont and Golden Gate Avenues near Maltman Avenue, the committee was told.
