PCH Reopens After Downed Power Lines Force Closure Through Pacific Palisades

PACIFIC PALISADES (CBSLA.com) — Officials reopened both directions Tuesday of the Pacific Coast Highway near Sunset Boulevard after downed power lines forced the street closure in the area.

The burning and dangling wires were reported around 10:20 a.m. at the 17300 block of PCH between Topanga Canyon and Temescal Canyon.

The Department of Water and Power were sent to the scene.

Crews worked to replace the broken cross arm section of the power pole, and restrung downed wires that were once connected to it.

More than 415 customers were without power.

CBS2's Laurie Perez spoke with drivers who were stuck in the area, that were reportedly stuck in the area for over an hour.

It was unclear if the outage and downed wires were weather-related.

Crews explained they will take samples and investigate how and why the pole was compromised.
