YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Several families in Yorba Linda say they’ve been seeing a string of porch thefts, with home deliveries nabbed from people’s doorsteps..

Liz and Wayne Fitkin told CBS2/KCAL9’s Bobby Kaple their surveillance camera captured the suspect nabbing a package right off their front porch.

“So I’m reviewing the video and I catch the guy in the act of stealing the package an hour after it was dropped off,” Wayne Fitkin said.

“I was furious,” Liz Fitkin said. “To see someone else come to your property, while you’re out working for a living, and just take what belongs to you — I was outraged.”

Yorba Linda has seen an increase in porch thefts, ” Lt. Jeff Hallock of the O.C. Sheriff’s Department. “We realize it’s not concentrated just to the city of Yorba Linda. Many of the adjacent cities — Placentia, the east end of Anaheim, Anaheim Hills — have been experiencing these kind of thefts.”

In La Habra, cameras caught a woman stealing a credit card.

In footage taken Tuesday of another porch theft in La Habra, the suspect’s car is clearly visible. The person didn’t realize the box they took only had Thanksgiving stuffing inside.

Police suggest having packages ordered online delivered to the recipient’s office or to a neighbor who will be home during the day.
