$1,000 Reward Offered For Safe Return Of 'Spice' The Poodle

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) — A Culver City woman whose home allegedly was ransacked by thieves is offering a $1,000 reward for the safe return of her dog.

According to Sue Downing, thieves came in and stole two of her three dogs, a 12-year-old Pomeranian named "Penny" and her poodle "Spice."

At the time of the crime, Downing was unsure if the dogs were stolen or had run out the back door, which the burglars left open.

Then she realized no property had been taken and she surmised the culprits were after her dogs.

News reports got the attention of one Antelope Valley woman, whose son allegedly bought Penny from someone in Santa Monica.

They returned the dog to Downing after realizing the dog had been nabbed.

"She means so much to me. I can see that they took good care of her, but I'm her mom," the owner said.

Spice, however, is still reported missing. She's pleading for the return of her poodle.

The poodle needs special care and suffers from problems in her hind legs: "Spice has an obvious malformation of her back leg. She doesn't walk normally. So, all I can think is, if somebody took them, they must have just scooped them up and ran off with them, not realizing that they're not really sell-able."

Downing said she hopes someone will see Spice's photos, and return her as well.
