Williams-Goss Leads Washington Past Long Beach 80-70

FULLERTON (AP) — Nigel Williams-Goss scored 21 points and dished out a tournament record 12 assists to lead Washington to 80-70 victory over Long Beach State in the semifinal game of the Wooden Legacy Tournament on Friday night.

The Huskies advance to the tournament championship game on Sunday against UTEP, who defeated Xavier earlier Friday.

Down 54-45, Washington went on a 13-3 run and took a 58-57 lead following a free throw by Mike Anderson with 8:26 to play.

Andrew Andrews and Anderson hit key baskets down the stretch and the Huskies held the 49ers to one basket over the final 5 minutes of play to secure the win for Washington.

Andrews scored 16 points and Robert Upshaw added 12 for the Huskies (5-0).

Mike Caffey scored 18 points and Deonate North and Temidayo Yussuf each added 16 points for the 49ers (3-4).
