'Big Macher' Wins $100K Cary Grant Stakes At Del Mar

   DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Big Macher won the $100,000 Cary Grant Stakes by a neck as the 7-5 favorite Sunday at Del Mar.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Big Macher ran seven furlongs in 1:21.81 and paid $4.80, $3 and $2.60. It was one of four winners on the card for Bejarano, who also won the second, seventh and ninth races. He had been in a slump, with just a single win.

Rousing Sermon returned $8.80 and $5.60 at 16-1 odds, while Patriots Rule was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $3.60 to show. Red Outlaw had his six-race winning streak snapped with a fourth-place finish.

The victory, worth $60,000, increased Big Macher's career earnings to $556,678, with six wins in 14 starts.
