No-Burn Alert Issued For Southern California

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California air quality regulators are issuing a no-burn alert for Monday, advising residents not to burn wood or fire logs because of excessive air pollution.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District says a high concentration of fine particle air pollution is in the forecast. They say the alert is necessary to protect public health because fine particles in wood smoke can get deep into the lungs and cause respiratory illnesses.

The alert applies to the greater Los Angeles area, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
