Police: 2 Homeless Crack Addicts Wounded By Gunfire

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   Authorities said a  man and woman were wounded by gunfire in South Los Angeles Saturday evening.

The shooting was reported about 8:40 p.m. in the 6400 block of Hoover Street, said Sgt. Rudy Alaniz, watch commander of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station.

The victims, who are both between 50 and 60 years old, were described by police as homeless crack addicts.

"They got into a confrontation with an unknown person who fired numerous rounds at them," Alaniz said.

The woman was struck in the buttocks and the man in an arm, he said.

The victims were taken to California Hospital Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Alaniz described the victims as "basehead, crack-smoking" homeless people.
