Funeral Services Held For Fallen Pomona SWAT Officer

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Officers Thursday from across the Southland said a final farewell to a Pomona SWAT officer who was killed in a raid on a suspected motorcycle gang member.

Officer Shaun Diamond, 45, was fatally shot in the back of the head while serving a warrant at a San Gabriel home on Oct. 28.

David Martinez, 36, was charged with capital murder in connection with the death of the married father of two.

Thousands of officers from across the state attended Diamond's funeral, held at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, followed by a procession and burial at Forest Lawn in Covina.

KCAL9's Erica Nochlin attended his graveside ceremony in Covina Hills.

"I can't express how proud my dad would be today to see you all gathered," said Margo Diamond, daughter of Shaun. "To see us all together in this room is truly breathtaking."

Diamond first joined the Montebello Police Department in 1995. He was then transferred to Pomona in 2006.

"I'm so angry and heartbroken that he's not with us anymore," Diamond added. "I'm comforted in knowing that he died doing what he loved, his job."

Gov. Jerry Brown and State Attorney General Kamala Harris were in attendance.

The California Highway Patrol advised drivers to avoid the westbound 10 Freeway through Ontario, Pomona and Covina from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
